Dale Ann Bradley and CJ The DJ announce new bluegrass single

NASHVILLE, Tn. (WMDJ) — Dale Ann Bradley and CJ the DJ Jarrell Announce Bluegrass Single, “Let’s Tear It Down and Build It Over Again."

Award-winning bluegrass artist Dale Ann Bradley, a six-time IBMA Female Vocalist of the Year, has teamed up with 37-year radio veteran and bluegrass singer CJ “The DJ” Jarrell for an emotional new single set for release in spring 2026.

Titled “Let’s Tear It Down and Build It Over Again,” the song is a heartfelt ballad about rebuilding a relationship from the ground up. Written by acclaimed songwriter Dale McKinney, the track explores themes of reflection, redemption, and the courage it takes to start over after hardship.

Blending Bradley’s signature mountain-soul vocals with Jarrell’s seasoned delivery, the collaboration brings authenticity and depth to a song that speaks to anyone who has faced challenges in love and life.

The stripped-down bluegrass arrangement allows the message to take center stage, supported by rich harmonies and traditional instrumentation.

“This song is about second chances,” said Bradley. “It’s about recognizing what’s broken and having the strength to rebuild it stronger than before.”

Jarrell added, “After decades in radio and music, songs like this still hit home. It’s honest, it’s real, and it’s something people will connect with.”

“Let’s Tear It Down and Build It Over Again” is expected to resonate strongly with fans of traditional and contemporary bluegrass alike, continuing both artists’ legacies of delivering meaningful, story-driven music.

New Kentucky Law Targets Drivers Passing Stopped School Buses

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WMDJ) — A new law signed this week by Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear aims to crack down on drivers who pass stopped school buses.

House Bill 7 will allow school districts to install camera systems on buses starting in July, if they choose to opt in. The cameras will capture license plate numbers of vehicles that illegally pass buses and send that information to authorities.

The bill, sponsored by state Rep. David Hale, is intended to improve safety for students getting on and off buses.

Under the law, technology vendors would manage the camera systems and flag potential violations. That footage and information would then be reviewed by local law enforcement before any citation is issued.

Officials say passing a stopped school bus remains a serious safety concern and continue to remind drivers that failing to stop is illegal and puts children at risk as they cross the road.

Report: Kentucky Among Highest in U.S. for Child Abuse Cases

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WMDJ) — A federal report released earlier this year shows Kentucky continues to rank among the highest in the nation for child abuse and neglect cases.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Children’s Bureau, Kentucky reported a child maltreatment rate of 14.1 victims per 1,000 children in 2024, nearly double the national rate.

The report shows the youngest children are the most vulnerable, with infants under age one experiencing the highest rates of victimization.

Most cases in Kentucky involve neglect, which is the most common form of maltreatment nationwide.

The report also identifies substance use as a significant risk factor in many cases involving caregivers.

While the rate remained steady compared to the previous year, the total number of victims in Kentucky has decreased since 2020.

Officials say prevention and early support for families remain key to reducing abuse and neglect.

Anyone who suspects child abuse in Kentucky can call 877-KY-SAFE1.

Perry County man facing federal charges involving minor

HAZARD, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Perry County man is facing federal charges after a criminal complaint alleges he transported a minor across state lines for illegal sexual activity.

According to documents filed in U.S. District Court, the charge involves transporting someone under 18 in interstate commerce with intent to engage in criminal sexual conduct.

The investigation began after a UTV crash on Feb. 28, 2026, in the Vicco area. Deputies identified four occupants, including two 16-year-old girls. One of the teens died in the crash.

Court records state the suspect, Noah Back, 26, owned the vehicle and was also an occupant.

Investigators later reviewed information shared on social media that raised concerns about a relationship between Back and the surviving teen. A forensic interview conducted in March led to additional findings, including allegations the relationship began when the minor was 14.

The complaint also outlines multiple trips outside Kentucky, including to Georgia, where investigators allege sexual activity occurred.

The case focuses on interstate transportation of a minor for illegal sexual activity. Court records show Back is being held in the Laurel County Correctional Center without bond.
